Most fights on a home job are not about who is right. They are about what was agreed, on which day, with whom. By then, everyone remembers it their own way. 5 minutes at the end of each work day is the whole habit.

How this works, and what it does not tell you

How this works

You write one entry per work day. The page turns your entries into one plain-text record. You can copy, download, or print it. Your entries stay on this device between visits. The page runs in your browser. It sends nothing to Coastal SD Pros or to any contractor.

What it does not tell you

It is not evidence, and this page does not claim it is. It holds no photos and takes no uploads. The photo line records where you saved a picture, not the picture. It gives no advice on what to do if a job goes wrong. It makes no judgment about anyone named in it. Its one value is that it was written down on the day.

Write it the same day. An entry written on Thursday about Tuesday leans on memory. The two lines that matter most are who was here and what was agreed, and by whom. Those two get remembered differently later.

Closing out

Fill these in at the end, while you can still reach everyone.

The last fixes you walked through and agreed on together, plus the date you agreed them.

What you hold: the signed bid, every change order, the warranty papers, the permit sign-off, the receipts. List what is missing too.

The labor warranty and the maker's warranty are two different promises. Write down who backs each one, how long it runs, and the number to call.

What a useful entry looks like

  1. Write it the same day, even when nothing much happened. A gap in the dates is the one thing you cannot fill in later.
  2. Split what you saw from what you were told. Both go in the log. They are not the same kind of fact.
  3. When the plan changes, note who raised it and what was offered. Note whether it went into writing before the work changed.
  4. Take a photo of anything about to be covered up. Write in the log where the photo lives.
  5. Download a copy every week. This page cannot do it for you, because it has nowhere to put it.
