The Solar Detective

If you are purchasing, or have recently purchased, a home with a solar system, an inspection by The Solar Detectives is well worth the cost. Their inspection can determine whether the system is functioning properly, operating safely on the roof, and maximizing its energy efficiency, while also providing valuable information about the system’s overall condition and performance.
The Solar Detectives, led by Bill Horan, is my trusted resource when advising our real estate clients on properties equipped with solar systems.

Before going into escrow on a home with solar, I thought the concept was simple. Nope—I was very wrong! A confusing PPA led me to Solar Detective for an independent assessment, and I’m so glad I did my due diligence. The report was incredibly valuable, thorough, and easy to understand, even for someone like me who started with a kindergarten-level understanding of how solar really works. I now feel much more informed and confident moving forward. Highly recommend!

Excellent service

Bill and Adam are extremely knowledgeable and great at explaining items that need to be repaired for better use of the solar system.

Adam performed a solar inspection on a home that I have in escrow to be sold. Adam did a very thorough inspection and is great with clients in explaining his findings in layman's terms that are easily understood. I've used him before and will certainly use him again on any homes that I sell that have solar on them. Thanks for the great job, Solar Detectives! ~ Ken

Bill was extremely knowledgeable, down to earth, thorough and relatable. I can't say enough good things about the knowledge he brought forth in our Real Estate transaction.

As a real estate agent in San Diego, I have recommended The Solar Detective many times to clients who are purchasing homes and want to fully understand the solar energy system they are inheriting. Their inspections are thorough, unbiased, and give buyers the information they need to make informed decisions.

I recently had the opportunity to use them personally when the monitoring system for my own solar panels had been offline for over a year. After no one else was able to resolve the issue, Adam Peck came out and had everything diagnosed and working again in less than 45 minutes. His knowledge, professionalism, and efficiency were truly impressive.

Whether you’re buying a home with solar or need help troubleshooting an existing system, I highly recommend The Solar Detective.
