We used Dyjak Design Build for two remodeling projects at our house over the past few years. The owner, Jim Dyjak, was a pleasure to work with and was absolutely essential in helping us navigate various city requirements for our construction projects. We have been absolutely overjoyed with the work he did. Everything was done to highest standards and has stood the test of time. In addition, he kept our projects on time and on budget (and sometimes even under budget!). This was made all the more remarkable because our second project occurred during the past year. Despite all the pandemic-related supply chain issues, he was able to keep our project on track. Even our neighbors were amazed that there was daily activity on a project and that he managed to get it completed so quickly. Lastly, Jim is a great communicator, always keeping us in the loop regarding the timing of work and any other issues that might arise. Indeed, if we ever had questions, or needed to shift around the work schedule, or even changed our minds about a design feature, Jim's patented response was always: 'I'm on it.' And he always was. We really cannot recommend Jim and Dyjak Design Build more strongly.

We hired Dyjak Design and Build to help us completely overhaul our backyard complete with an ADU, outdoor living room/kitchen, pool, etc. Jim helped us migrate from concept to design to build. At every step of the way, he embraced a “can do” attitude and was accountable and responsive on a daily basis. Moreover, in the face of the pandemic, he was able to ensure that we made progress on a daily basis — a remarkable feat given the labor shortages and various supply chain disruptions. The quality of craftsmanship was beyond our wildest expectations. We’ll be eternally grateful to Jim and his team for the radical transformation of our home. Great value and exceptional service. We had Jim Dyjak and his team design and execute a remodel on our Solana Beach bungalow. The
original house had an awkward entry, tiny kitchen and poor access to the yard. Our remodel included
pushing out two walls, a new kitchen, bath, fireplace, wood floors, paint and windows. The design we
agreed on changed the location of our original kitchen allowing us to create the larger space we wanted
and improving the floorplan. It not only improved access to the yard but gave us a much larger view of
the yard.
The job is complete, and we are incredibly happy in the new space. I write this while sitting on the couch
looking at the beautiful new fireplace that is warming the room on a cold blustery day.
If you want your job done on time and on budget, you need a type A personality who stays on top of
details and not just coordinates subs but pushes them. Jim Dyjak was on site almost every morning to
review yesterdays progress and discuss the day and weeks plans.
We have neighbors who started a similar job before us and are not done while we have been in the
house for a month. They talk about weeks going by with no one on their job site. We had three days
where nothing was scheduled during the entire project. On time is awesome, Jim got us in ahead of his
promised completion date.
To be kind, l will say that putting together pallets of paint, stone, wood and tile is not a strength. The
interior designer service was beyond helpful and included in our price.
Jim takes great pride in his work and demands the same of his subs. As we were nearing completion, he
gave us a roll of blue tape and asked us to put it on paint blemishes, nicks, cuts or anything that did not
look perfect and to create a punch list of anything that needed attention. When he came to review our
punch list, he added multiple items we would have never noticed. Early in the job a sub asked me if he
could park in our driveway to unload his truck. I gave permission but Jim showed up and made him
move. “We don’t park in client’s driveways; we don’t smoke on client’s jobs and we don’t leave trash on
client’s property”.

We chose Jim and Dyjak Design Build to construct a new accessory dwelling unit (ADU) over our garage. After meeting with multiple contractors it was clear Jim was the right person for the job, and we were not disappointed!
