Horrible Customer Service. Stacy Elliott is the Operations Mgr. Milgard Windows used this company to install my windows and sliding doors. They claim the developer of our condo didn't square the openings (US Window decided to install them anyway). They don't close or lock properly & Stacy refuses to even return my calls. He suggested I have Mike Larson (MLarson Construction) check the structure - I did that. Mike Larson said Stacy needs to adjust the screens - it's not structural. Even so, Stacy refuses to stand by his work. Buyer beware - do not use this company.

I read the response - it is not accurate. MLarson Construction (the company you asked me to use) confirmed that the dip is not a significant builder issue. He said he would reach out to you to tell you to re-cut the screens to fix the problem - obviously, you chose to ignore him and blame the builder. I called and told you I would pay for you to fix the window lock & you continue to ignore me. Feel free to keep making up excuses - the bottom-line is you are not standing behind your work & continually ignore my requests even though I have gone above & beyond to be reasonable and offer to pay to have this fixed.

Good afternoon, Mike. As we have discussed on the phone, I understand your frustration; however, you are misrepresenting our discussions in your review. US Window & Door installed the windows and door in the condo you would eventually purchase. On June 18th 2024, the windows and doors were set square, level and plumb in accordance with standard trade practices. The doors and window operated and locked fine at the time.

Eight months after your doors were set, in February 2025, we were informed by the builder of a locking issue with one of the doors. Upon inspection we found that a bow had developed in the center of the door, compressing it from above. We could not tell what was causing the bow due to the fact that stucco, at that point, had been completed on the exterior and drywall on the interior. In April of 2025 I met with the builder, and they had the drywall removed and we placed a level on the framing of the front room door and there was a significant dip in the center. The builder was informed in writing that the framing needed to be repaired before the bow in the door could be fixed. Several more months passed with no communication until the builder informed us of locking issues with the bedroom door and living room window. We went out and inspected and found similar issues. Once again, the builder was told to fix the underlying framing issues so that we could reset the doors. As far as I know, the issues were never addressed, and we have never performed any work on your unit since the 18th of June 2024. This is a builder issue.

We are aware that the manufacturer has investigated and told you the same thing. Mike Larson told you that you could grind down the tops of the screens so they would function better under the bow. That is not something we have or will ever do. That is a work around and will do nothing to address the operation or locking issues you are experiencing with the doors and window. Once again, we sympathize with the situation you are in and for our part, we will never work with the builder again.

Absolutely the WORST service provider experience I have ever hired in my life. Upon arrival for install I was told I need to sign a change order for 2 hours @ $145/hr for removing window trims that would take 1 person 10 minutes max. Wrong size windows were ordered, sliders were wrong color and manufactured incorrectly, screens were wrong size overlapping into the windows, window trims did not match, replacement sliders were manufactured backwards on second attempt install 2 weeks later and I had to beg them to provide correct sliders they wanted me to wait 2 more weeks. Zero apologies from anyone at US Window. I actually asked Stacy Elliot why no one has apologized and still didn't get an apology! STAY AWAY FROM this company!!!!

Reply from the business · Jul 10, 2026

I am sorry the experience didn't live up to your expectations. The trim removal you mention was something you had agreed to handle before installation. When it wasn't done, our team absorbed that additional labor at no charge to you. The windows you received were the exact product you selected, a specific brand chosen for its white exterior and black interior in aluminum, which you personally inspected at the factory before contracting with us. The product conformed to that order.

The concerns you raised afterward were aesthetic, including the difference in Z-bar profile between the windows and door, which is a manufacturer design characteristic rather than a defect. When you raised issues, both our team and the manufacturer came to your home and worked to address as many requests as possible.

Unfortunately, even after working to resolve your concerns you decide to hold back the remaining unpaid balance owed under the signed contract, which we ultimately had to resolve in court. During those proceedings, you were asked directly whether there was anything further we could do to address your concerns, and your answer was no.

We delivered a conforming product, our workmanship met standards and our follow up was inline with our warranty and customer service practices. We exhausted every reasonable avenue to satisfy your preferences. We stand behind our work and our customers can expect the same diligence we brought here.

Great job on installing our new front door, looks great. Thanks to Patty for helping us select the door and to the installation crew that came out to measure and later install. Great job! I could of bought a door and found a contractor to install the door and saved some money, but when I saw how complex it is to install an exterior door, I know I made the right decision. And guess what, the door opens and closes so smoothly, the new lock that they installed works like a charm. I've heard of so many bad stories of door installs but mine was not one of them. Experience counts!

And the installation crew found a 12 year Milgard window that was fogged and put in an order to replace. Never noticed the fogged window until it was pointed out to me.

Highly recommend US Window & Door Carlsbad, we had an excellent experience with a whole house window & door replacement. Quality workmanship, five stars for the entire team! From start to finish, they did an amazing job. Our windows and doors arrived quickly from Milgard and the job was completed faster than expected. I chose US Window & Door for my own house and also for my client's homes since they are a local, family owned business. Stacy is very knowledgeable and our lead installer, Chris, was awesome, thank you!

7 years after we had our windows/doors installed by US Windows and Doors (Carlsbad), we had a leak in our sliding glass door. They came out the very next day and completely removed the door and reinstalled it from scratch at no charge to me. That is customer service!

We had almost all of our Windows replaced as well as our front door. Stacy and his team did an outstanding job. They also did some stucco work for us as we re-configured the front of our house. They were on time and focused on both the install and protecting our home while they did there work. Every project hits a bump in the road and we had a couple of issues that were quickly resolved. So happy to have a Supplier stand behind their product as well as their craftmanship. We have gotten a lot of compliments from people walking and even driving by our home since our window and door install. We sought numerous quotes from 3 different Providers and we are pleased that we went with US Window and door.

Very passive aggressive and borderline rude. Patty will text you with her passive aggressive comments for sure. Open from 7:30 to 4:00, how convenient is that? I want to see what I am going to buy, and Stacy said most people just look online or a pamphlet! LOL, what a joke. I was sent an email and a text that asked what they need to do to earn my business, well, stop being passive aggressive, that's one way! You can see in the return comments on Google as an example. I am sure they will try to cover this up comment as well and make themselves look like the victims. Call and you will find out for yourself. There are other companies out there to choose from. Nobody wants to deal with this type of behavior. Very unprofessional.

Reply from the business · Oct 10, 2024

We have reviewed the text message logs from our system and are having a hard time finding what you could have found as passive aggressive. Patty was being both formal and polite. Things can get misconstrued via text message so that may be what happened here. We're happy to schedule appointments at our show room with a sales team member at a time that's convenient for you even outside of business hours. We brought that up several times throughout our conversations but you never opted to schedule a time. Martin, the owner, also reached out to you individually to try and address your needs but it seems all attempts have failed to meet your requirements.

As far as Stacy’s statement that 95% of our customers never visit the show room, that is true and potentially on the conservative side though we're happy to help anyone who comes to our office or schedules a visit. We know that our show room hours are in line with many of our competitors' and we go out of our way to make accommodations; however, if you can't make those times or want to schedule an office visit at a convenient time, we recommend that you go with an in-home sales person in the future. Our sales team can also schedule home visits outside normal office hours, bring samples with them, and have access to the showroom should you require it.

Well, I don’t know what’s happened to the art of professionalism. US Windows needs a brush up. The sales guy was fine, the measuring was fine, communication leading up to setting an install date was good. Then I received a email stating my install had been scheduled. Only problem- I had a Dr’s appt. It would have been a better approach if I would have been called to schedule a time that worked for both parties.

On the install date 2 guys showed up rather than 3 (3rd guy showed up towards the end). It took 9 hours to replace 6 windows!!! 2 screens had defects and 3 windows were scratched. The lead installer was friendly and seemed capable. He said he would turn in the paperwork and I would get a call within a couple days from Milgard regarding the defects.

The following day I noted that the bottom of one window wasn’t caulked along with several other corner frames. Several plugs were also missing from inside frames ( at least 2 were due to window malfunction I later learned), one had been filled with caulk. No one mentioned this to me!

Called/emailed management and installer returned 2 days later to caulk. Lead installer again mentioned that he had turned in my paperwork. I still have not received the plugs. They are promised tomorrow.

Two weeks later, no call regarding defective windows. Called management, turns out although the lead installer had told me that he had turned in the paperwork, he had not. So here I am two weeks after install waiting for a call from Milgard regarding the defective windows. I wonder how long I would have been waiting had I not called.

I have spoken to both Stacy Elliott, Operations Manager and Tim Maldonado, Installation Manager. I have needed to call and email more than a reasonable amount to get resolution. They have been unapologetic and seem bothered by my requests for information/follow-up.

Additionally, the caulking done for several windows look like it was done by a child playing with Play-Doh very sloppy. And one window frame drywall was pretty beat up.

I’m am very disappointed with my experience with this company.

Hi Paula, thank you for the feedback. You are absolutely correct your installation fell short of standard and it has been addressed with the team lead.

Regarding scheduling, please keep in mind that we schedule 12-20 jobs per week. Since most people screen their calls we find that calling each individual customer, with voicemails and missed returned calls, can take days to finish. It is much more efficient to send out the planned dates and if there is a conflict address it. I believe in your particular case, once you informed us of the scheduling conflict we were able to change your dates in a matter of an hour or so.

As to it taking 9 hours to do six windows, that is not uncommon. Your job was to replace original vinyl windows with vinyl retrofit windows. The process is much more labor intensive than replacing wood or aluminum windows as it requires some cutting of the old frame and additional interior trim work. In fact most of our competitors won’t take these type of jobs because they are so difficult.

I do not believe that Tim or Stacy were bothered by you. If you detected any annoyance it was most likely aimed at the installation team who needed to be scheduled to return to your home twice for a job that should have been done correctly the first time.

We do apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to follow up with the manufacturer on your services until they are complete.
